About us

The Peninsula Community of Schools was launched in 2007 as a collaborative learning community of 3 local high schools and 10 area primary schools who partner with each other and with Macquarie University and Brookvale TAFE (technical and further education) to provide over 9,000 students from diverse backgrounds from Kindergarten to Year 12, with new and dynamic learning opportunities.

We build fresh and unique learning opportunities for students that are creative and relevant in the 21st century. The 3 secondary schools have an integrated senior curriculum, which provides its students with an exceptionally broad and flexible timetable of HSC (Higher School Certificate) course choices.

Senior students have the opportunity to select subjects on shared timetable lines to better cater for their preferred subject and career choices.

Our extensive enrichment program aims to strengthen the academic, creative, social, physical and leadership capabilities of our students.

We work collaboratively to connect our students to a broad range of experiences and competitions that take students beyond the classroom and encourage lifelong learning. Through these rich experiences, students further develop their knowledge, skills, relationships and values.

In partnership with Macquarie University we have designed the STEM Project to positively influence young people's attitudes towards science by providing students with opportunities to engage and excel in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.

The project develops supports and implements innovative teaching and learning practices within the STEM curriculum for Kindergarten to Year 12 with a current focus on robotics.

The Peninsula Community of Schools has a commitment to ongoing improvement through a comprehensive teacher professional learning program.

Peninsula Community of Schools staffs participate in specialised workshops each term, supported by university staff, teachers and community partners, in which they are immersed in the most recent teaching and learning practices designed to improve student outcomes.

Since its inception our successful learning community has been recognised with:

  • a Director General's Award
  • the Cohesive Community of Schools Award
  • NAB Schools First Impact Award.
